This post is not about the band it is about the actual pepper and my ignorance! Let me provide a little background information before I go into the whose and whys of what happened today.
I am a huge fan of Jason's Deli, I am especially a fan of their soups and in particular their chicken noodle and their fire roasted chicken tortilla soups. However the one forseeable problem with Jason's is that they are a costly place to eat. I don't mind paying the price if I cannot find food like it anywhere else and I have not found a soup I like as much. My love affair with Jason's soup has gone on for years.
Fast forward to a week ago yesterday. My sister and I decided that we would go on Weight Watchers together, reason being both of us have some extra weight we want to get rid of me. I by far have much more to lose than my darling sister, but in either case we are in it together. When my sister was visiting from Pennsylvania we took her to Jason's and I let her try a taste of the soup I had, fire-roasted chicken tortilla.
My sister found a recipe for fire-roasted tortilla soup and posted it on my facebook, so I decided to try it out. I went to Target and got everything necessary to make it including some kind of pepper that I was and still am unfamiliar with. I cut them and put them in the crock pot and washed my hands not thinking anything of it until I ended up touching my face and having it feel like the scorched earth. OMW (oh my word) those peppers are HOT!
In the end the final toll has been one very unhappy baby because Mommy touched him with her hands, so now he's been super fussy all night long and I do not blame him, and one Mommy with burning eyes and mouth. I did wash my hands with some orange soap with pumice thanks to my husband, but I haven't scrubbed under my nails yet so I keep getting a little surprise now and then. Why orange soap? Apparently, the chillies are oil based and it seeps into the skin and rides on top, so while you think that you washed it all off, the fact is that you have not! Thus, the orange soap with pumice and also Dawn dish washing liquid would probably be the best choices if I ever get in this sort of situation again.
And in other news, Man I wish I could have a beer or a Woodchuck (in my case). However, I am stimming and I have two follies, or did the Sunday that were growing nicely so I am not about to screw that up or even make it a worry by having an alcoholic bevvy. No siree....so instead I made myself a cup of coffee. Now, some say "oh no, don't drink caffeine" , but it is the least of my worries and I wanted something warm and comforting.
Tomorrow I go back for another sonogram and if all goes well we should be retrieving some time between now and Saturday. I so hope we make it to retrieval. I hope and pray that we do and that the doctor finds two eggs that are mature and chromosomally perfect, that they make beautiful embryos when combined with my husband's sperm and that we become pregnant and deliver two beautiful twins. I have on several occasions referred to the two follicles growing as "the twins". Perhaps boy/girl twins like the pacifiers I found and took to be a sign. I found a pink one in CVS and a teal/bluish one in the parking space at the hospital when I went to get a sonogram for last cycle.
It is said that if you visualize fertility, if you visualize what you want the outcomes of life to be, that they will happen. I have heard that's the principle behind The Secret. I have never been good at this sort of thing, but I am going to try to visualize it.
